To help companies better prepare for their digital futures, we delved into how digitally maturing organizations strengthen their cultures and develop the talent that drives them.

Creating an effective digital culture is an intentional effort: Digitally maturing companies are constantly cultivating their cultures. Most of thr digitally maturing companies say their companies are actively engaged in efforts to bolster risk taking, agility, and collaboration. the other group of companies at the early stages of digital development are doing so.

Senior-level talent appears more committed to digitally maturing enterprises: Companies that give their senior vice presidents, vice presidents, and director-level leaders the resources and opportunities to develop themselves in a digital environment are more likely to retain their talent.

PROJECT VR

What is real? How do you define real? If you're talking about what you can hear, what you can smell, taste and feel, then real is simply electrical signals interpreted by your brain.

Everything we experience in life can be reduced to electrical activity stimulating our brains as our sensory organs deliver information about the external world. This interpretation is what we consider to be "reality." In this sense, the brain is reality. Everything you see, hear, feel, taste and smell is an interpretation of what's outside, and created entirely inside your head. We tend to believe that this interpretation matches very closely to the external world. Nothing could be further from the truth.

VR is the ultimate medium of syntactical intent; the only way to figuratively "show" someone exactly what you mean is to literally show them. Words are exceptionally ineffective at conveying meaning, as they are a low-bandwidth, lossy medium of knowledge transference. VR will let us remove the ambiguity that is the discrepancy between our internal dictionaries and bypass communication through symbolism altogether.

Who would have thought that modern manufacturing could be done without a factory? Since the Industrial Revolution, manufacturing has been synonymous with factories, machine tools, production lines and economies of scale. So it is startling to think about manufacturing without tooling, assembly lines or supply chains. However, that is what is emerging as the future of 3D printing services takes hold.
